Welcome to Assemble ADU

We are a custom Additional Dwelling Unit (ADU) builder in San Diego. We offer design, drafting, and permitting when building our ADU's. We can build brand new houses, Garage Conversions, and Jr ADU conversions within an existing house.

New ADU Units

At Assemble ADU, our experienced team conducts thorough assessments of your property to determine optimal location, size, and design integration. Currently, in compliance with California regulations, we adhere to a maximum unit size of 1200 square feet.

We meticulously navigate municipal codes, considering setbacks from streets, existing structures, and neighboring properties. Every New ADU is tailored to its specific site, allowing us to propose designs that optimize window and door layouts for privacy and seamless integration with the surroundings. Additionally, our services extend to harmonizing the facade of your new ADU with your existing residence, ensuring aesthetic coherence or refreshing the style of your primary dwelling to complement the new addition.

Among the array of designs we offer, some of the most sought-after options include a 400-square-foot studio, a 500-square-foot one-bedroom, and a 1000-square-foot two-bedroom unit

Garage Conversions

A garage conversion design is employed when transforming an existing garage, whether attached or detached, into a studio apartment. Typically, these spaces are too compact to function as a one-bedroom unit but are ideally suited as a studio for one to two occupants.

The advantages of a garage conversion are noteworthy, as it allows for the conversion of a non-living section of the house into a permitted addition. Consequently, this enables homeowners to include it in the total square footage of the residence while establishing a distinct rental space.

Jr ADU Conversions

A Junior ADU designation involves the transformation of an existing space within your residence into a distinct unit. This can be achieved by repurposing an unused section of the house, effectively converting it into a self-contained apartment. Our approach involves strategic modifications such as constructing or relocating interior walls, installing a bathroom and kitchen facilities, and establishing a separate entryway independent of the main house.

This method ensures privacy and autonomy for occupants while preserving the original exterior appearance of the house, with minor alterations such as the addition of extra windows and doors. Junior ADU conversions are typically undertaken in homes with ample square footage that exceeds current living requirements. Thus, if your residence includes surplus bedrooms or underutilized areas, this option may offer an ideal solution.
